Why I'm building Beltane BBQ
I'm Andrew. I spent five years as a professional chef, most of it cooking thousands of portions of yakitori over binchotan, where the difference between good and great comes down to heat, patience, and experience. I left professional kitchens years ago, but I've never stopped cooking with fire.
What I kept noticing was that buying good live-fire kit in the UK is harder than it should be. The best equipment and expertise are spread across small makers and importers, and the big-box shops mostly sell the same charcoal grills made of paper-thin metal that rust out in a year.
So I'm building the shop I'd want to buy from.
Why "Beltane"?
Beltane is the ancient Gaelic fire festival held every year on 1st May, where communities light bonfires to welcome the start of summer. My Scottish lineage dates back to the 1700s on my father's side, and the name just felt right: gathering around fire, at the exact moment the British BBQ season begins proper.
